Selectman Present:      Joan Funk

Chairman Doke called the meeting to order at 6:03pm and welcomed new member Ann Titus.

Old Business:
1. Review of Minutes –Joan Funk motioned to approve the July minutes as amended, 2nd JoAnn Doke. Motion carried with Ann Titus abstaining.

  • Window Stickers – JoAnn reported that John Fitch passed out the merchant letters to the downtown merchants and as a result she received an application and $5.00 back from R & W Real Estate.  The committee discussed they will try this again with the window decals in hand.
  • Ribbon Cuttings – JoAnn informed the committee that the photo taken at the Pet Pantry did not come out that well so she would like to reshoot it.  The committee agreed this was a good idea.
New Business:
  • Car Wash – JoAnn said that she put out the advertisement for the carwash and that she will draft a letter to the local businesses to invite them to the carwash to promote their businesses.  Joan stated that the Gridiron Club was not available to help but that the kids from CHANCES will be available.  The carwash is set for 9/13/08 from 9-4 pm with a rain date of 9/14/08.  JoAnn will check with the Puddledock to see if they have raffle tickets to use for the oil raffle and she will also get a coffee urn and tables for the day.
  • Other -  The committee discussed the downtown parking issues. JoAnn brought up that future adult rec. trips might want to leave from one of the schools because a recent one she attended left from the municipal parking lot and the participants all left there vehicles parked there which filled the parking lot.  It was also discussed that village center businesses need to utilize the municipal parking so that patrons can use the on-street parking.
  • The engineer for Mrs. Minimas emailed JoAnn for information on available parking and the committee instructed her to respond that they have no control over downtown parking.  As a result of this inquiry the committee further discussed the need for the town to look into purchasing a downtown parcel just for parking purposes and the property off of Civic Street was mentioned as a potential.

Joan Funk motioned to adjourn, seconded by Ann Titus, Motion passed with all in favor.

Chairman Doke adjourned the meeting at 6:55 pm

Respectfully Submitted,
